19th C. American Coin Silver Teapot, Peter L. Krider, Philadelphia 1850-1860
Here is a beautiful embossed coin silver teapot bearing the mark of Peter L. Krider dating to sometimes between 1850 and 1860. It also has the mark of the retailer, J.E. Caldwell as well as the words "Philad." and "Standard". This lovely piece measures just under 10" in height to the top of the finial and weighs in at just under 27 ounces Troy. This has been gently polished and is overall in excellent condition with no serious issues or any sign of repair. Just a few small notes: First being the hinge pin just a little pushed to one side, so the lid has a bit of play...again, nothing serious and easily fixed if you care. Second, there are a few tiny dimples here and there but nothing major. And last, the little bone spacers on the handles are darkened and crazed with age and the handle has just wee bit of wiggling...however is stable. This is an exceptional teapot by a maker known for the quality of his pieces.
